ROBBINS, RICHARD J., 83, of St. Petersburg, died Tuesday (June 6, 2000) at the VA Medical Center at Bay Pines hospice unit. Born in Corning, N.Y., he came here in 1956 from Hartford, Conn. He retired as a master sergeant after 21 years with the Army, having served during World War II and the Korean War. He received two Bronze Stars and served with infantry and artillery divisions in campaigns in North Africa, Sicily and Anzio, Italy, and with the occupation Army in Germany. He was an inventory control clerk for GTE and a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Gertrude H.; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael B. and Sally E. Robbins, Pinellas Park; and a grandson, Jeffrey M. Robbins, Largo. Garden Sanctuary Funeral Home & Cemetery, Seminole.
