1907 - 1989

William E. Rucker Sr., 81, of Rush, died Wednesday, April 12, 1989, in King’s Daughters’ Medical Center following a long illness.

Mr. Rucker was born November 19, 1907, in Elliott County, a son of the late Thomas Jefferson and Clara Belle Artis Rucker.

He was a retired coal miner and a member of the Church of Christ.

His wife, Eunice Mae Dinkens Rucker, died in 1982.

Surviving are five daughters, Josephine Smith and Verna Lee, both of Rush, Clella Shawhan of Grayson, Ann Salyers of Ashland and Shirley Crum of Kenova, WV., nine sons, Hansel Rucker, Edsel Rucker, Danny Rucker, Phillip Rucker, and David Rucker all of Rush, Harry Rucker of Ashland, Marvin Rucker of Ironton, OH., Toby Rucker of Flushing, OH., and William Elza Rucker Jr., of Indianapolis, IN., three brothers, Sanford Rucker and Jim Rucker, both of Ashland, and Riley Rucker of Rush, 29 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, at the Coalton Community Church, by Frank McKinney and Jack McKinney, ministers. Burial will be in the Rucker family cemetery.
