Funeral services for Mrs. Mae Bevans, 73, were held Thursday morning, Dec. 21, at the St. Joseph Catholic church in Canton. The Rev. Thomas Gray officiated. Music was provided by Mrs. Harvey Childers. Pallbearers were Otho Shuman, Nelson Spicknall, Norman Merrell, Gus Snell, Clarence Gilbert, and Louis Allison. Burial was in Zion Hill cemetery. Mrs. Bevans died at her home in Canton Tuesday, Dec. 19, after an extended illness. She was the daughter of William and Mamie Shuman Collins and was born at Monticello, Mo., Jan. 2, 1893. She was married to Earl Clinton Bevans Jan. 11, 1911. He preceded her in death April 12, 1961. Mrs. Bevans was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic church. Survivors include a son, Lester Bevans; two granddaughters; a sister Mrs. Henry Bader; two nieces, two nephews and other relatives. Also preceding her in death were her parents, an infant son, three sisters and two brothers.
