Methel Louise (Atwood) Goodwin (1937 – 2015)

JAY - Methel Louise (Atwood) Goodwin, 78, died on Sept. 2, 2015 at her home in Jay.

She was born on May 11, 1937 in Kingfield, the daughter of Kenneth and Cora (Barron) Atwood.

Methel graduated from Kingfield High School in the class of 1955. She continued her education at the Maine Medical School of Nursing in Portland, receiving her Bachelor’s Degree of Nursing in 1958. She used her degree as an RN towards several nursing jobs including Franklin Shoe, the old Franklin Memorial Hospital and the Gettysburg College Infirmary. She also worked at Seniors Plus for more than 10 years.

Methel enjoyed spending time with her children, 11 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. She was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed watching college basketball and NFL football on TV. She spent many hours outdoors in her flower gardens. Methel was never one to sit idle and whenever friends or family called to check in to see what she was doing, her famous response was, “Oh just putterin!”

She is survived by [edited for privacy]. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert and her sister in-law, Carol.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at 11 am, with a luncheon to follow in the reception area, at Dan & Scott’s Cremation and Funeral Service, 488 Farmington Falls Rd., Farmington, ME 04938.
