James Reed BUCHANAN, 62, of R. D. 1, Hickory, died suddenly at 10:30 pm, Monday, March y, 1960, in the West Penn hospital, Pittsburgh. A son of the late Herbert S. and Lena LYLE BUCHANAN, he was born October 3, 1897, at the BUCHANAN family homestead in Mt. Pleasant Township, and had lived there his entire life except for a brief period on the Pacific Coast. Mr. BUCHANAN spent his life in farming. Mr. BUCHANAN was a member of the Mt. Prospect Presbyterian Church, where he was a member of the session and was active in church work. He also was affiliated with the Washington County Farm Bureau. He leaves his wife, Catherine ANGERER BUCHANAN; two daughters, Margaret and Marilyn, both at home; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret SMITH of Topeka, Kans., and Mrs. Sara B. HANNON of Washington; and a brother, Clemence BUCHANAN of Jennerstown. Friends will be received at the Speakman funeral home through Wednesday evening and from noon until 2:00 pm Thursday at the Mt. Prospect Presbyterian Church, Hickory, where services will be conducted by the Rev. R. A. MORLEDGE. Burial will be in Mt. Prospect cemetery.
