Nathaniel R. Hillyard
Nathaniel R. "Sonny" Hillyard, 84, of White Post, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004, in the VA Medical Center, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Mr. Hillyard was born Jan. 4, 1920, in Clarke County, the son of Otha M. and Carrie B. McDonald Hillyard. He was a line worker for Abex Corp. and an Army veteran of World War II.
He attended Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church.
His wife, Genevieve Hillyard, died May 21, 1964.
Surviving are four brothers, Ashby Hillyard and Clarence Hillyard of Stephens City, Robert Hillyard of Winchester, and James Hillyard of Montana.
Four brothers, Joseph Hillyard, Elmer Hillyard, Johnny Hillyard, and Benjamin Hillyard, are deceased.
A funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, Winchester, with the Rev. Charles Townsend officiating. Burial will be in Winchester National Cemetery with military honors by VFW Post 2123.
Pallbearers will be William Hillyard, Nathaniel Hillyard, Leo Hillyard, Allen Hillyard, Clarence Hillyard, and Charles Trussell.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, 130 Mt. Carmel Road, Boyce 22633.
