Isaac was the son of Jacob and Emma Brenbarger.
He enlisted in the Union Army, Company C, Ohio 191st Infantry Regiment on March 8, 1865 and Mustered out on Aug 27, 1965
He married Rosa Cochran in 1876 and they were the parents of seven children, Rosa, Ernest Clyde, Etta, Charles, Willie and Lydia.

I. C. BRENBARGER DEAD
At 2:30 yesterday occurred at the family residence in this city the funeral services of Mr. Isaac Brenbarger. Mr. Brenbarger was born in Grove City, Franklin county, Ohio April 14, 1845, and died February 17, 1902, aged 56 years, 6 months and 3 days. On December 9, 1875 he married Miss Rosa Gardner of Delaware, Ohio, and to this union seven children were born, five of whom still live - one in Boone, Ia. and four at home. Smitten with the western fever, Mr. Brenbarger faced westward in 1882 and arrived in Blair on the 2nd of October of that year and has lived in this city ever since. When the Civil War materialized, young Brenbarger, then a mere lad of 16 years, enlisted to the 44th Ohio without parental consent, and was immediately removed therefrom and compelled to remain at home until February 24, 1865 when he was permitted to enlist with an elder brother in Co. C. 191st Ohio, from which he was discharged August 27th of that year. During the few months Mr. Brenbarger was in his country's service he "endured hardness as a good soldier", marching through Kentucky and Tennessee eastward into Virginia and north through Shenandoah Valley to Harper's Ferry and in those arduous marches contracted diseases from which he never completely recovered.
The deceased was reared in the faith of the Lutheran church, but for years past had no church connections. Most of his family, however, are members of the Christian church, and its pastor conducted the services, speaking from Hebrews 9:27. The interment was in Blair cemetery.
