Choe Mae Atkins, 63, of Edna, died Sunday in a Victoria nursing home.

She was born Aug. 30, 1923, in Winnfield, La. to the late Arnold and Bertha Mae Walker Sikes. She married W.H. Atkins on June 18, 1942, in Winnfield. They moved to Jackson County in 1949.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Edna, with the Rev. Joe Webb officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens of Edna under the direction of Slavik Funeral Home.

Surviving are her husband, W.H. Atkins of Edna; a daughter, Betty Sue Kossler of Collieville; a son, John W. Atkins of Angleton; two brothers, James Sikes of Winnfield and A.L. Sikes of Baton Rouge, La.; and four grandchildren.

In lieu of usual remembrances, the family requests that contributions be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Mrs. Atkins was preceded in death by a son, James Atkins, in 1984.
