Eva Helen Hayes, 94, of Huntsville, died Oct. 27, 2006, at her home. She was born Dec. 23, 1911, at Whitener, the daughter of Charlie Riley and Annie Cynthia Sara Morehouse Shepherd. She was a homemaker and the widow of Howard Andrew Hayes, who preceded her in death on Oct. 19, 2001. She was also preceded in death by one son, James Hayes on Dec. 21, 1991, two brothers, Leroy Shepherd and Odie Shepherd, and two sisters, Pearl Day and Wilma Stanphill.
Survivors include two daughters, Wilma Lawrence and Bettie Easley, both of Huntsville; one daughter-in-law, Velma Hayes of Huntsville; two grandsons and one granddaughter-in-law, Jerry Wayne Samuels and Perry Roberts and Debbie Thompson, all of Garden City, Mo.; two great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter-in-law, Mark and Sarah Thompson of Harrisonville, Mo., and Matthew Thompson of Garden City, Mo.; and one great-granddaughter, Makayla Marie Thompson of Garden City, Mo.
Funeral services were held on Oct. 30 in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home with Dean Stanphill and Todd Thomas officiating. Interment was in the Buckeye Cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home of Huntsville. Pallbearers were Perry Thompson, Mark Thompson, Matthew Thompson, Tommy Thomas, Dean McChristian, Jerry Wayne Samuels and Lavearl Day.
