WWII Vet. US Navy
Born in Fosters, Michigan

Wonderful,loving,husband,father,grandfather.
Son of Dominic 1890-1939 & Pauline Klaczkiewicz 1889-1972
Brother of Pauline, Alex and Danny .

Played accordian with numerous bands over 40 years and with Franky Yankovic. Gave a tremendous fight with cancer over a 3 year period but died from a cellebrel hemmorage.
Husband of Evelyn. Father of Michael,Diane, Donna, Richard, David and Vickie

My dad was also a very religious person coming from a Catholic background. He only schooled thru 10th grade but he was the smartest man I knew. His parents owned a farm in Fosters, Michigan and as a child and teen he labored on the farm. At 16, he left home to live with a sister and played in local clubs (the accordian) to make ends meet.
He joined the Navy in WWII and was on a ship in the South Pacific. He told me one story of being in the engine room of the ship and just as he walked out the door, a bomb exploded and everyone in that engine room died. He was not even hurt. At the time, he was married to Evelyn and had one son, Michael.
Dad came back from the war and lived with his wife Evelyn at the inlaws house on Bancroft St, Saginaw, Michigan until 1963. During that time his inlaws both died and he also lost twin daughters at birth, Diane and Donna and had sons David and Richard and daughter Vickie. He worked in machine shops by day and played accordian in clubs and bars at night. His day of rest was only on Sunday and he always took his family to church and upnorth during the summer to enjoy the beach. He enjoyed boating and fishing and we spent lots of days on the Saginaw River and Bay.
He always took care of us kids and my mom and I never heard him complain about that. He was a very good looking young man and knew lots of people through his accordian playing. He had a strength that most people never aquire. A strength of church, God, family, responsibility and also a very fun loving man, enjoying many things.
After he retired from KC Engineering in Saginaw, Michigan, he took his wife to Florida every winter and just loved being there on the gulf.
He enjoyed his grandchildren of which he has 9.
One granddaughter died after him in 2003 (Celena Newman)
His wife Evelyn died just 9 months after him, congestive heart failure but I think it was a broken heart after losing him and her son David just of few years before.
An interesting story is my mothers parents died 9 months apart also and she died of conjestive heart failure too but my mom said she died of a broken heart also after losing her husband.

We little knew that morning that God was going to call your name. In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone; for part of us went with you the day God called you home. You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide, and though we cannot see you, you are always by our side. Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same, but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again."

Remember Me. Remember me for smiles not tears, for all the joy through all the years. Recall the closeness that was ours, a love as 'sweet' as fragrant flowers. Don't dwell on thoughts that cause you pain, we'll see each other once again. I am at peace ... try to believe, it was my time ... I had to leave. But 'what a view' I have from here. I see your face, I feel you near, I follow you throughout the day. You're not alone along the way. And when God calls you ... you will be right by my side ... right here with me. Till then, I'll wait by Heaven's door, we'll be united ...evermore!
