William Irvin Lee
February 21, 1925 - April 8, 2010

William was born February 21, 1925 in Orange County, California to Wallace and Alma Lee.

William was the middle of three children.

William attended school in Riverside California, and was later drafted into the U.S. Army. He served from September 20, 1943 to January 1, 1946. After being discharged he moved to the Duncan area and began working for Phelps Dodge Mining Company.

He later met his love Wilma Mathews and was married May 11, 1952. Together they had 5 children, Glenn, Linda, Dianna , Carroll and Larry .

In September of 1967 he moved his family to Thatcher where he resided until his passing. William took great pride in his family and loved to paint portraits and make jewelry.

He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and held many callings through out his life.

Funeral services for William Lee, 85, of Thatcher, who passed away April 8, at his residence in Thatcher, will be conducted Tuesday, April 13, at 10 a.m., at the Thatcher LDS Stake Center by Bishop Ron Howard of the Thatcher Third Ward. Concluding services with military honors conferred by the Gila Valley Veterans Honor Guard will follow in the Bryce Cemetery.

William was born February 21, 1925, in Orange County, Calif. ,to Wallace and Alma Lee. William was the middle of three children. William attended school in Riverside ,Calif., and was later drafted into the United States Army. He served from Sept. 20, 1943, to Jan. 1, 1946. After being discharged, he moved to the Duncan area and began working for Phelps Dodge Mining Company. He later met his love, Wilma Mathews, and was married May 11, 1952. Together they had five children, Glenn, Linda, Dianna, Carroll and Larry. In September of 1967, he moved his family to Thatcher, where he resided until his passing. William took great pride in his family and loved to paint portraits and make jewelry. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many callings through out his life.

William is survived by his sister, Marilynn Jenkins of Riverside; his children, Glenn and Joyce Lee of Joseph City, and Dianna and Milton Harris of Farmington, N.M., Carroll and Walter Stradling, of Thatcher and Larry and Yolanda Lee of Thatcher; 29 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Alma Lee; a sister, Dorthy Duley; and his wife, Wilma Lee.

The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Vining Funeral Home and Tuesday morning from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at the Thatcher LDS Stake Center Relief Society Room.
