A son of James Hull and Cordelia Alice Barnett Shaw, he married Opal C. Scholl on Dec. 24, 1920. Brother to Mabel Ina Shaw and Ethel May Clark; Chester Eugene, Minnie Amelia Springer, and Grace Cordelia Shaw who married James S Musgove.

He was engaged in livestock and general farming; was a member of the Sugar Tree Grove church for 70 years; and was a veteran of World War I, having served with the Army Air Corps. He was a 50 year member of the American Legion. He was preceded in death by twin sisters, Mabel and Ethel, and by his brother, Chester Eugene Shaw. Burial was in Center Grove cemetery in Kirkwood.

Minnie Amelia Shaw Springer is buried at Houston National Cemetery, Find A Grave # 1213512.
