Mr. Brooks was a farmer his entire life in the Black Creek area. He enlisted the last year of the Civil War and served 10 mo. with the 189th Regiment,NY Volunteers. Near the close of the war he was wounded in the hand.
He was the husband of Alice C. Harvey. The father of William Henry Brooks and Lillian V. (Brooks) Baker. Also had 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren
