GREENVILLE, SC - Gladys Masters Smith, 90, of 11 Henderson Road, died March 25, 2003, at St. Francis Hospital.

Born in Pickens County, she was a daughter of the late James Albert Masters and William and Bertha Fortner Ballenger Sr., and was the widow of Cleo M. Smith. Before her retirement, she was employed with S-Mart as a salesclerk. Mrs. Smith was a member of Laurel Baptist Church.

Surviving are a son, Wallace P. Smith, of Greenville; a granddaughter, Sharon Smith; and a grandson, Billy Smith, of Simpsonville; and two sisters, Estelle Green and Elaine Wilder, of Simpsonville. She was predeceased by a sister, Viola Tanner; and two brothers, W. P. Ballenger Jr. and Thomas E. Ballenger.

Visitation: 7 to 8:30 tonight at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Funeral services will be held at noon Friday in the funeral home chapel with entombment at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family is at the home of the son: 113 South Estate Drive, Greenville.
