Age 99, passed away August 3, 2009 at the Glacier Hills Care Facility. Shelby was born on Sept. 1, 1909, in Anneta, KY to William and Nellie. He was married to Margaret of Budapest, Hungary for 52 years. He was employed by Ford Motor Company in Dearborn from 1929 until his retirement in 1972. Shelby was a millwright and spent numerous hours during WWII on the conversion of the Ford facility to military production. He lived in Dearborn, MI, Kissimmee, FL and most recently at Sunrise Assisted Living in Ann Arbor where he moved to be near family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret, son Jerry and eight brothers and sisters. Shelby enjoyed the company of his family and his dog, watching the birds in his yard, playing bingo and wii bowling. A celebration of his life will be held at Ann Arbor Sunrise North Assisted Living on Saturday, August 8, 2009 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Shelby's name may be made to the Humane Society of Washtenaw County.
