Historical Collections of Brown County Ohio by Carl N. Thompson 1969, pg. 894: ISAAC WASHBURN, born in 1786, married Rachel Laycock, daughter of Joseph and Phoebe (Parker) Laycock. They resided on the east side of Straight Creek, Brown County, where he died in 1826. He served in Colonel Key's Ohio Militia Regiment, under Captain Joseph Kratzer's Infantry Company in the War of 1812, and had been a prisoner of the British. After his death, his widow married Vincent Calvin and they moved to Cass County, Indiana, becoming the first white family locating at Royal Center, Indiana.

HISTORY OF BROWN COUNTY, OHIO, 1883, by W. H. Beers, pg. 605: JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP -- Isaac Washburn was born in Pennsylvania, and came to this township about 1800. He purchased about five hundred acres of land, now owned by Wilson Pickerill, Samuel Mefford, and the heirs of Knight McGregor and Mary Wills. He married Miss Rachel Laycock. Their children were Nicholas, George, Phoebe, Moses and William. Mr. Washburn died about 1825.
