Constance Mize Wainscott, a resident of Naples, Fla., since 1961, formerly of Atchison, died peacefully on Sept. 26, 2007.

"Connie" was born in 1910 in Atchison, to Chester Louis Mize and Flora Brownson Mize. She graduated from St. Catherine's School in Davenport, Iowa, and the Chicago Institute of Education.

She taught kindergarten in Atchison prior to her marriage and again during WWII.

She devoted her life to her family, her church and caring about others. She was a Naples Community Hospital volunteer for more than 20 years, a dedicated church volunteer all her active life and a past United Way Board member.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, George E. Wainscott, Sr.; a daughter, Diane; as well as her brothers, Chester Mize, Jr. and Dr. William B. Mize; and sisters, Amelia Noland and Dorothy Young.

She is survived by sons, George E. Wainscott, Jr. and wife, Marilyn of Naples; Jeffrey Mize Wainscott and wife, Katherine of Alexandria, Va.; and daughter, Deborah and husband, William Chatterton, of Mason, Wis. She was a loving grandmother to Christopher and Terri Wainscott, Grant and Courtney Wainscott, Tristan and Julie Chatterton; Lyken Chatterton and Hanna Chatterton; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

At Connie's request there will be no funeral. A memorial service honoring her life will be will be held in Naples at a later date. Burial will be in Atchison. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Trinity-by-the-Cove Episcopal Church, 553 Galleon Drive, Naples, Fla., 34102 or Trinity Episcopal Church, 300 S. Fifth St., Atchison, KS 66002.
