June DeSpain Ream was born June 19, 1919 in Pratt, KS to William E. and Edyth L. Cooke DeSpain.

She died April 2, 2010, in Perry, OK at Perry Memorial Hospital.

June grew up in Ponca City, OK where she graduated from high school in June 1937 and married Dale B. Ream the following September.

In 1941, June and Dale moved to Perry, OK where she spent the remainder of her life. Dale preceded her in death on March 30, 1980.

June worked with her husband, the Continental Oil Company Bulk Agent, during World War II.

For several years, they owned Ream Shoe Store on the Perry square. Also she worked at Parker Funeral Home (and later Brown Funeral Home), Triton Insurance Agency, Best Yet Grocery, BIC Loan Company, and Ream Insurance & Real Estate.

She retired as Deputy City Clerk of the City of Perry at 83 years of age.

She was a proud citizen of "Perry, America."

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she served on the Board of Stewards, Sponsor of the Junior Missionary Society, and sang in the church choir for over 20 years.

She was active in numerous community organizations and events including the Marigold Garden Club and the Community Concert Series. June was a gifted seamstress, avid reader, expert crossword puzzle completer, and knowledgeable about birds, flowers, and trees, especially of Oklahoma.

In 1999, she was honored by the Perry Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi as the Perry Woman of the Year.

Ms. Ream is survived by her daughters, Charlotte Ream Cooper of Oklahoma City, and Karen Ream Studebaker Andrews (John) of Honolulu, HI. Grandchildren: Susan Studebaker-Rutledge (Gregory), Singapore; Alison Cooper Chisolm (Fred), Littleton, NH; Steven Studebaker (Ngo Thi Kim Dung), Saigon, Vietnam; Shannon Cooper, Lancaster, PA; Rebecca Cooper Dupin (Doug), Washington, DC; and Christopher Ream Cooper (Monica), Tulsa. Great-grandchildren: Bao Ngo Michael Studebaker, Jose Enrique "Josh" Lao Cooper, Asia Elizabeth Rutledge, Max Cooke Dupin, William Robert Augustus Dupin, Finn Townsend Dupin, and Victor Gonzalo Cooper Prado; a niece: Gene Fountain Marshall, Fountain Hills, AZ, and a nephew: Jerry Dale Fountain, Seminole, FL.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister and brother-in-law: Clarice and Max Fountain, and nephew, David Fountain.

A memorial service will be on Friday, April 16, 2010 at 2:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church of Perry.

Following the services, a reception will be held at the Ream family home, 1023 North 8th Street, Perry.

A private family interment will be held at Grace Hill Cemetery prior to the services.
