Kenneth Ewy, 43, Hanston farmer and stockman, died in the local hospital Monday evening, July 22. It is thought he was stunned by lightning during an electrical storm and fell from the tractor. An implement has passed over him, cutting him badly. He was farming near the R.O. Bradshaw farm six miles north and two miles east of Jetmore. Mrs. Bradshaw discovered the accident. Kenneth LeRoy Ewy was born at Hanston October 11, 1924, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob R. Ewy. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army of World War II. He married Margaret Rhea on August 15, 1948. To this union four children were born. They made their home in Hanston. Mr. Ewy was member of the Hanston Mennonite Church and was treasurer of the board at the time of his death; he was a member of Duncans Crossing VFW Post No. 6237, Hanston; was treasurer of Hanston Unified School District No. 228, and served on the board a number of years. He was a past member of the Hanston City Council, serving two terms. Survivors include his widow, three sons, John Lee, Dennis LeRoy, and Stanley Ray and a daughter, Kenna Sue, all of the home; a brother Ralph of Hanston, and two sisters, Mrs. Alice Myers of Sublette and Mrs. Verna Ridgeway of Wichita. The funeral is this morning, Thursday, July 25, in the Hanston Mennonite Church at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Garman Wedel officiating. Burial will be in the Hanston Cemetaery with military rites by the Hanston VFW. The Davis Funeral Home as charge of the arrangements.
