Born July 1, 1932, in Carroll County, he was a son of the late Ira R. Sr. and Mildred Thomas Albaugh.
He was the husband of Mary Ann Albaugh, his wife of 56 years.
He graduated from New Windsor High School in 1951. He was a dairy farmer most of his life in the Union Bridge area and was also employed at RMS in Westminster for 10 years, retiring in 1997. He was a member of the Farm Bureau for many years, Maryland Coop Milk Producers for 25 years, and served a three year term on the Southern States Petroleum board.
He was also a member of the Church Of The Open Door in Westminster, singing with the choir for many years. He and his family sang special music at the church as well as at area churches.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sons Paul R. Albaugh Jr. and wife Karen, of Union Bridge, John Albaugh Sr. and wife Janet, of Manchester, William Albaugh Sr. and wife Anne-Marie, of Westminster, and Allen Albaugh and wife Rebekah, of Union Bridge; a daughter, Kathleen Phelps, of Baltimore; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Sue Grossnickle, of Johnsville; a brother, Ira R. Albaugh Jr., of Westminster; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Thomas, of Keymar. He was predeceased by an infant daughter; and a brother, Harold Thomas.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Pipe Creek Cemetery in Linwood.
