Funeral services for Ruthie Mae Boyd Whitehurst, age 90, of Conroe will be held on Friday, April 9, 2010 at 12:30 p.m. in Cashner Colonial Chapel with Dr. Jay Gross and Reverend Ed Boyd officiating. Interment will follow in Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, April 8, 2010 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Cashner Funeral Home.

Ruthie was born March 23, 1920 in Converse, Louisiana to William Thomas and Ara Pearl Latham Boyd and passed away on April 6, 2010 in Houston, Texas at Methodist Hospital after succumbing to a brief illness. She moved to Conroe in 1978 and was a charter member of the West Conroe Baptist Church as well as, a member of the Be Ye Kind To One Another Sunday School Class and P.E.P. Ministry.

Preceding Ruthie in death was her husband of 68 years, Horace B. Whitehurst, her parents and eleven (11) brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Martha W. and W.O. Bartle, Jr. of Houston and Nancy W. and James T. Boswell of Montgomery; grandchildren, Emily Holliday and husband Jerry of Montgomery, Brannon Boswell of New York City, New York and Andrew Boswell and fiancée Amanda Lefler of Stafford; great grandchildren, Ashlyn and Tyler Holliday; extended family, Debra and Mike Hoyt, Sean, Bryce, and Kayleigh Hoyt and Thomas Mark and Laurel Bartle. All her friends at West Conroe Baptist Church, numerous other relatives and many other friends also survive.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the West Conroe Baptist Church Food Pantry or the P.E.P. Ministry, 1855 Longmire Road, Conroe, TX 77304.
