Oscar was born in Gousier (spelling questionable), England on Dec 24th, but the year has been shown to be 1870, 1871 and 1872 on various documents. His death certificate states 1872. His father's name was Charles.

He enlisted in the US Navy during the Spanish American War on July 2, 1898 in Erie, Pennsylvania. He was discharged Oct 23, 1898 in Norfolk, Virginia.

He married Emma and they had children: Charles L (b Nov 1896), Lawrence G (b July, 1898), Albert Reid, Clara A, and Walter M. Emma and all of the children were born in Ohio.

In 1900, Oscar and Emma were living at 133 Main Street and Oscar was a day laborer. In 1910 they were at 857 McKinley Ave and Oscar was working as a power house operator. 1920 finds Oscar and Emma living at 417 Utah Street, where they lived for the remainder of their lives. He's working in a garage as a battery man.

When he was 57 years old, he was admitted to the Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers in Dayton, Ohio on May 8, 1928. He was suffering from carcinoma at the time. He was discharged on May 8, 1929. He was receiving a pension of $40.00/month at the time.
