"The Indian War Pension was made by the second wife of Thomas Robertson Lawson. The pension indicated he was known as Thomas Robertson Lawson and gave the death date of his first wife Pricilla Zachary [Daughter of Daniel Hay Zachary and Precey Ward].

"Thomas R. Lawson married Pricilla Zachary on December 19, 1837 in Putnam Co., GA.

"Thomas married Elizabeth Cockrey Sikes on December 10, 1868 in Troy, Pike Co., AL.

"Military record from the widow's pension.
Thomas Robertson Lawson was a Private in Captain James Merewither Georgia Volunteers. He enlisted on the St. John's River in Florida about March 1, 1836 and was discharged on Black Creek, Florida about June 1st. 1836. The Georgia Volunteers were commanded by Captain James Meriwether consisted of 12 officers and 58 privates. The company was under the command of Major Mark A. Coopers 1st Battalion of Georgia Foot Infantry in 1836.


"Thomas was 25 years old at the time of entering the service. He was a farmer in Putnam County, about 5' 7" feet inches in height, blue eyes, black hair, and "Florida" complexion.
