Harold E. Albrecht, 94, formerly of Nichols, died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2006, at Simpson Memorial Home, West Liberty.

Betsey Neipert will officiate. Burial will be at Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Nichols First Responders or Iowa City Hospice.

Mr. Albrecht was born May 5, 1912, near Muscatine, the son of Henry and Katherine Eckhardt Albrecht. He married Marie Wedekind on Aug. 7, 1943, in Kahoka, Mo.

He was a lifetime farmer in Muscatine County.

He was a long time member of Nichols United Methodist Church. He competed in the senior division of Iowa State Corn Huskers Association as well as nationally where he once placed fifth. He was a Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeye fan, enjoyed woodworking and gardening.

Survivors include two daughters, Laura Davis and husband Brian of San Antonio, Texas and Lois Albrecht of Iowa City; a son, Dennis Albrecht and wife Linda of West Branch; two granddaughters, Michelle Dvorsky and husband Brad of Solon and Jodi Noble and husband Anthony of Williamsburg; three great-grandchildren, Brittney Jo Dvorsky, Brooklyn Michelle Dvorsky and Kathryn Marie Noble; and a brother-in-law, Edwin Wedekind and wife Joan of Muscatine.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two infant brothers, Edward and Leo; and a sister, Gertrude McLaughlin.
