ARCADIA, LA - Funeral services will be held for Emogene Lawrence New, 76, of Gibsland, Louisiana at 2: 00 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Arcadia, Louisiana with Rev. Bob Jameson and Rev. Richard May officiating. Interment will follow at Old Athens Cemetery, with services under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home of Arcadia.

Emogene was born June 30, 1933 in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana. She entered into rest April 3, 2010 in Minden, Louisiana. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Gibsland, La. She was a homemaker, she loved to garden and can vegetables, she was a great cook, she could sew, embroidery and crochet, and she loved to fish. She was a mother, Mam-maw Jean to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and Mama Jean to all the babies and children she kept through the years.

Emogene was preceded in death by her husband; A.B. New, Jr. and her parents; Charles Joseph Lawrence and Lou Ella Kilpatrick Lawrence, and brother, Thomas J. Lawrence.

She is survived by daughters: Linda Rhodes and husband Billy of Gibsland, LA, and Peggy Stovall and husband Marion of Athens, LA, sons: Billy New and wife Kathey of Gibsland, LA, and Jamey Lawrence and fiancée Amanda Canter of Fairfield, TX, brother; Jim Lawrence and wife Sue of Morton, MS, sisters-in-law: Nathalee Eberhardt of Dallas, TX, and Bobbie Lawrence of Arcadia, LA, grandchildren: Joey Perry and wife Aimie, Crystal Lancaster and husband Jim, Hunter Rhodes, Wade Stovall, Ranelle Stovall and fiancée Will Jones, Katy McDaniel and husband John, Megan Talton, Lindsay Liles and husband Mike, Charlie Lawrence and wife Mariann, Ashley Lawrence and Sandi Lawrence, great-grandchildren: Joel, Justus and Alina Perry, Haley Lancaster, Logan McDaniel, Kolby Shiers, Landry and Mason Liles, Austin Lawrence and Kaedyn Brown, and all that called her "Mama" Jean". She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Karriker, Mark Kidd, Arthur Lathan, Mike Likes, John McDaniel and Jonathan Stewart.
