Inscription
Erected by Isabella Burns in memory of her children, Jean Begg born 16th April 1804 died 7th July 1822, Edward Begg born 12th August 1811 died 2nd May 1824, and James Begg born 2nd February 1809 died in China 2nd November 1840 also the above Isabella Burns born 27th June 1771 died at Bridgehouse near Ayr 4th December 1858 interred in Alloway Kirkyard beside the ashes of her much revered father. Her husband John Begg was accidentally killed at Blackwood, Lanarkshire. The above Isabella Burns was a sister of Robert Burns, our National Bard.
