George Inman Wood, son of Lizzie DeWitt Wood French and John James Wood, died in early May, 1980 in Breckenridge County from a gunshot wound to the head with a small-caliber weapon. His body was found partially submerged in Yellowbank Creek. Mr. Wood is survived by three sons and four daughters: Mrs. Brenda Kay Florence, Curtis D. Wood, George Robert Wood, Mrs. Sandra lee Wilson, Mrs. Judy Gail Hammond, Edna Christine Wood and Gary Wood. He is also survived by his mother: Mrs. Lizzie DeWitt French; step-father Chester French; one brother and two sisters; Virgil Wood; Mrs. Opal Nelson; and Mrs. Faye Graham; and one half-brother: Marvin Kirtley and six grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
