He met his future wife, Alice Joan (Bottom) while they attended Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, SD. After he returned from serving in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, they were married on August 20, 1954, in Miller and then moved to Denver, Colo., where he attended the Iliff School of Theology. They served his first church in Kit Carson, Colo. This loving couple then moved back to South Dakota to serve in churches at Plankinton, Kennebec, Reliance, Flandreau, Egan, McLaughlin and Mobridge before finally moving to Artesian/Farwell.
