Dale A. Eizinger
March 10, 1922 — April 4, 2010

ROCHESTER — Dale A. Eizinger, 88, of 934 Wabash, Rochester, passed away at 6 a.m. Sunday, April 4, 2010 at Life Care Center of Rochester. He had been ill the past three weeks.
He was born in Tippecanoe March 10, 1922, the son of the late Allen and Florence Knepper Eizinger. He was a graduate of Tippecanoe High School and Purdue University.
While at Purdue he was a member of the Purdue Order of Military Merits, ROTC, Honorary Society and Ceres Agronomy Society. Captain Eizinger served three-and-a-half years in the U.S. Army. He served with the 63rd Infantry Division and was in combat in Europe with the 69th Division as an artillery officer and received the Bronze Star and Battle Star of Central Europe.
After the war Dale was stationed in the United States forces headquarters in Frankfort, Germany where for a short period of time he was in charge of operation "Paperclip," a project of sending German scientists to the United States Space Program.
He and the former Nanette Burke were married in 1946 in Bourbon. They moved to Rochester and he served as assistant county agriculture agent for one year. Mr. Eizinger then began his 35-year teaching career at Rochester High School, retiring in 1982.
He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church of Rochester, Classroom Teachers, National Education Association, Indiana Classroom Teachers Association and Retired Teachers Association. He was also a member of the American Legion and Disabled Veterans.
Dale is survived by his wife, Nanette, at home; a son,Timothy Eizinger and wife Lee Ann of Rochester; four grandchildren: Burke Eizinger and wife Tasha of Greenwood, Amy Eizinger-Ott and husband Eric of Greenfield, Eric Eizinger of Chicago, Ill., and Kurt Eizinger of San Diego, Calif.; and a sister, Donnabelle Pfeiffer and husband Don of Rochester.
Nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Brad P. Eizinger (in 2004), and a sister, Treva Ritenour.
Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 6 in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th Street, Rochester.
A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 7 at Summit Chapel Cemetery, northeast of Tippecanoe, with Pastor Linda Hewitt officiating.
Military graveside rites will be conducted by the LeRoy Shelton American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, both of Rochester.
Memorials may be made in his name to the donor's choice or to the Northern Indiana Community Foundation for a memorial scholarship in his name.
