She married Basil Guy Simmons on 28 July 1945 in Los Angeles, CA. She moved with her family to Lawndale, Los Angeles Co, CA in 1947.
Berniece accepted the Lord and was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Lawndale, CA. in 1968.
She was a member of the Veterans of WW I Auxiliary of Gardena, CA and served as President.
Berniece had her mother living with her until she died in 1955. She cared for her the last year of her life as she was diabetic and bedridden after experiencing a broken hip and falling.
She and Basil moved to Hide Away Lake in Valley Center, San Diego Co, CA in 1970 and she lived there the rest of her life.
