Harriet E. Steinhauser nee Adams was the only child of John Quincy Adams and Anna Knox Atwater. John died soon after her birth, leaving Harriet and Anna alone.

Census records indicate Harriet living in Long Island, New York in 1880, with mother Anna and grandfather Job. Adams along with two other family members. By 1900, Harriet and Anna are found in the Bronx, NY, where they will remain for several decades living at 2056 Ryer Ave, Bronx NY.

Anna died at age 80 in April of 1919, and Harriet would remain single until 1929, when she married recent widower, Albert B. Steinhauser.

Albert and Harriet remained in the Bronx for several years, before moving to Beach Lake, PA. Albert would die in March of 1945, leaving Harriet a widow.

Harriet herself passed away on July 8, 1954, and was buried with her mother Anna. Albert was buried with his first wife.

Little is known of her life between Albert's death and her own. There are no known photographs of the couple, however if someone has one or any information on this couple, please let me know!

Rest In Peace.
