Mrs. Collette Van Erem of Preble Town, Dies
Mrs. Collette Van Erem passed away Thursday afternoon at 3:45 o'clock at the home of her son William in the town of Preble. She was born in Belgium, March 8, 1839, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Van Derwegen. At the age of 17 she came to America with her parents,coming direct to Wisconsin where the family settled on a farm near Green Bay. In 1860 she was married to Louis Van Erem.
Seven children survive, three having preceded her in death. The children are Henry and John of South Dakota, Andrew of Pittsfield, Constance of Appleton and William of Preble, Mrs. Otto Puerner of Racine and Mrs. William Vandenplas of Green Bay. There are also 54 grandchildren and 64 great-grandchildren; two sisters , Mrs. Fred Meyer of Oshkosh and Mrs. Ed Engels of Green Bay and one brother, Peter Van Derwegen of Withee, Wis. The body is at the home of her son, William, route 2. Funeral services will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m. from the Finger church with interment in Finger church cemetery.
