Fern was born to Henry and Nana (Robbins) Hart. She is survived by her loving husband, Eugene "Gene" Bishop. They met in Colorado Springs, Colorado and married on Fern's 19th birthday, March 4, 1933. They recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. To this union seven children were born: Phyllis (1934-1941), Evelyn, Duane (1941-1952), Bonnie, Francis, Joan (1946-1946), and Virginia. Fern is survived by four daughters and a sister, Evelyn of Orangeburg, South Carolina; 12 grandchildren; 10 great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She and Gene have lived in Albuquerque for the past 35 years. Fern was a member of the Vermont Street Church of Christ. One of Fern's favorite songs was "Amazing Grace."
