MSgt Goodson entered the Army Airborne in 1942, trained at Camp Wolters,Texas;California,Georgia and N. Carolina. MSgt Goodson retired after 21 years in the Army. During World War II, he fought in Salerno, Sicily, where he was wounded; the D-Day Invasion of Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. He was one of the paratroopers who landed in the pre-dawn hours of D-Day and liberated the village of Sainte-Mère-Église, as portrayed in "The Longest Day". He was awarded the Purple Heart, Pres. Citation,ET, 6 Battle Stars, GCM and French Croix de Guerre. He later transferred to the Air Force and retired after 21 years of service to the nation.
