John died at the Northern State Hospital in Winnebago following an illness of several months. He was born in New York City Feb. 10, 1854 and came to Menasha with his parents when he was a baby. He was a member of St. Joseph's society.

He was survived by three sisters, Mrs. Antone Krause, Mrs. Christina Boehm of Marshfield and Mrs. Frances Seubert of Marathon City, Wisconsin and one brother, George A Bayer of Menasha.
