Sonja Rae Hennessey died at home on April 2, 2010, surrounded by her loving family.
Sonja was born April 7, 1969, to Robert and Opal Nash. She is one of four children born to them.
She attended elementary school in Butte and graduated high school in Spokane. She also attended Montana Tech.
She was employed by Kmart, worked as a secretary-office manager for her husband at Hennessey Law Office and was employed at the time of her death by CCCS at the Women's Transitional Center in Uptown Butte. She was also active in Northwest Little League and was player agent at one time. She enjoyed supporting her children in all of their activities and was proud of them all.
Recently she traveled to San Antonio, Texas, to her son Kyler's graduation from the Air Force boot camp. She was very proud of this achievement.
Sonja was also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She also had a passion for genealogy and greatly enjoyed doing this work.
Sonja was preceded in death by her father, Robert Nash; her father-in-law, Maurice F. Hennessey; and her mother-in-law, Betty Hennessey and brother, Wayne Nash Murray.
Sonja was married to A. John Gardipee on Dec. 12, 1989, and had three children of that union, Cameron, Kyler and Rachel Gardipee. They later divorced.
Sonja married Walter M. Hennessey on Oct. 12, 2002. They have two children, Nicholas and Kaden Hennessey.
Sonja is survived by her husband, Walter M. Hennessey of Butte; children, Cameron Gardipee, Kyler Gardipee, (presently stationed at Fort Leonardwood, Mo.), Rachel Gardipee, Nicholas B. Hennessey and Kaden A. Hennessey of Butte; stepsons, Mark W. Hennessey and Patrick J. Hennessey, both of Butte; mother, Opal Nash of Butte; sisters, Monica Goosey and Lori Durkin, both of Butte; brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Jauhn Nash of Missouri; brother, Robert Nash of Seattle; sister, Deanna Cole of Utah, and sister, Ellen Warner of Butte. Numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews also survive her.
Relatives and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter -day Saints for visitations. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the LDS Church. Interment will follow in the Whitehall Cemetery.
Memorials can be made to the LDS Missionary Fund, Northwest Little League, Butte Food Bank or a charity of the donor's choice.
