The second of five children born to Francis Alexander & Christina (Jonasson/Jones) Hughes of Douglassville, Berks Co PA, John married Miss Sarah (nee unkn) abt 1750. (researching further to confirm her maiden name is Willes)

2) Captain John Hughes Jr (1752-1832), m: Margaret Leach.
3) Francis Hughes (1758-1841), m1: Rebecca Allen, m2: Elizabeth "Betsy" McCollum.
4) Christina Hughes (1760-1846), m: Nathan Cooper.
5) Aaron Hughes (1765-1841), m: Sarah Mackey.
6) Eleanor Hughes (b: 1767), m: John McDonald.

...John's will left his estate to his wife Sarah and, upon her death, to their son Aaron Hughes. The will does not list other children...
...Augusta County VA Deeds, Book 15, p. 220, dated 5 Nov 1768 - 224 acres (patented prior to John Hughes) was conveyed to Joseph Lair by John Hughes and Sarah Hughes. This land lay on a branch of Linville Creek, adjacent to the land owned by a family named Lincoln. Witnesses to the transaction are Andrew Byrd, Matthias Lair and Edward Sampson...
