Mrs. Brenda K. Swartz, 51, of Paris Road, Fort Plain, NY died suddenly on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at Albany Medical Center.

Born on December 3, 1958 in Columbus, Georgia, she was the daughter of Richard E. Luft and the late Marlyn E. Wahler Luft. She moved to the area as a child, and was a 1977 graduate of Fort Plain High School.

Brenda was employed as a cashier for Save-A-Lot in Fort Plain. She enjoyed camping, shopping and conversing with others. She loved her family dearly, and gave everything she had to them. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

She was predeceased by her mother, Marlyn E. Luft on February 10, 2009.

Her loving family includes, the love of her life, Donald Baum of Fort Plain, NY; three daughters, Stacey Mackes and her husband Phil of Herkimer, NY, Kristina and Mallory Baum at home; two sons, Donald and Tyler Baum at home; one sister, Jodi Crouse and her husband Dave of Burnt Hills, NY; one granddaughter, Sophia Mackes; nephews, Matthew Yacowenia of Burnt Hills, NY and Evan Yacowenia of Nelliston, NY; her cousin and best friend, Cheryl Reese of Fort Plain, NY.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, April 3, 2010 at 1 o'clock at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home with the Rev. Nancy Ryan presiding. Interment will follow in the Fort Plain Cemetery with a Balloon Release Ceremony. Relatives and friends are invited and may call one hour prior to the service beginning at 12 noon. Following all services, the family will gather at the South Minden Volunteer Fire Department for a time of fellowship.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the South Minden Volunteer Fire Department or the American Diabetes Association in care of the funeral home office. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317.
