Janie "Isabel" Brawley Cashion, longtime Mooresville resident and school teacher passed away peacefully at The Pines in Davidson on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008. She was 95 years old.

Isabel was a true angel sent to set an example of how to live a great Christian life, always treating others with love and respect. She served in many capacities of leadership, such as an elder in Centre Presbyterian Church where she worshiped until her health prevented attendance but continued to support until her death. Isabel was a graduate of UNC Greensboro and a member of the honorary teacher's society, Delta Kappa Gamma.

Mrs. Cashion was preceded in death by her husband, Captain William W. Cashion, Sr., who died in World War II; her only brother, Thomas O. Brawley II and daughter-in-law, Cathey Morris Cashion.

She is survived by her son, Bill Cashion and wife, Sandra, of Mooresville; grandchildren, Jonathan Cashion and wife, Vivian and son, Kevin of Houston, Texas, Beth Kirtland and husband, Chad and daughters, Hannah Grace and Sophia of Greensboro, and Brad Randazzo of New Orleans, La.; sisters-in-law, Mildred Cashion Alexander of Davidson and Eva Knox Brawley of Statesville. She will be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and great friends.

A family graveside service was held on Tuesday, Nov. 18 at 9:30 a.m. at Willow Valley Cemetery, Mooresville, followed by a celebration of Isabel's life at 11 a.m. at Centre Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Robert Howard officiating.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to the many special staff members of The Pines in Davidson for their excellent and thoughtful care. Memorials may be made to Centre Presbyterian Church, 129 Centre Church Road, Mooresville, NC 28117 or to The Pines at Davidson Resident's Support Fund, 400 Avinger Lane, Davidson, NC 28036. Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville is serving the Cashion family.
