GILRUTH RELEASED
FROM PRISON
BROTHER OF MAN SHOT TO DEATH
BY JOSEPH BROWN IS
GIVEN LIBERTY
Yesterday Sheriff Graham released John Gilruth, brother of Robert Gilruth, the man killed last Sunday in an encounter with Joseph Brown near the old Chickamon mine south of Lolo. John Gilruth was the only eyewitness to the tragedy, and his testimony will undoubtedly be the most important at the trial for Brown, which, although no information has as yet been filed, will probably come some time during the March term of the district court. Gilruth's account of the killing, as told at the coroner's inquest, is still the only version of the affair yet made public, as Brown still refuses to talk. Taciturn is Brown in his cell in the county jail, and only the words he needs to speak pass his lips. Brown is following out the instructions of his attorney, Charles H. Hall, to the letter in keeping his mouth shut. He seems not to be worried over his situation, and eats and sleeps regularly.
