Charles J. Fergusson, 77, retired farmer, dropped dead near his home at 420 South Price Street, late Friday afternoon. Funeral services were held from the Bob Riley Funeral Chapel Sunday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock with Elder T. O. Darling officiating. Burial was in the Oakwood Cemetery.

Mr. Fergusson was born December 12, 1881, in Mooreville, Falls County. He moved with his family to Bell County and later to Hamilton County with his parents when he was 12 years of age. He resided in the Pottsville and McGirk communities until his retirement in 1945, at which time he moved to Hamilton. He was married to Miss Lela Bryan August 2, 1903. She died March 7, 1917. On May 7, 1927, he married Miss Lizzie Watson.

Deceased is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lizzie Fergusson; three daughters: Mrs. C. H. Cox, Beaumont; Mrs. C. W. Roberts, Port Arthur; and Mrs. J. C. Bennett of Cincinnati, Ohio; two sons: R. J. Fergusson, Port Arthur and J. C. Fergusson of Houston; a sister, Mrs. Maggie Moore of Beaumont; two brothers: Luther Fergusson of Austin; and Leonard Fergusson of Dallas; eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

The pallbearers were Frank Jones, Ira Moore, Houston White, Rupert Kemp, W. O. Manning, and John Koen.


After the death Lela Elder (Bryan) Fergusson, Charles Johnson gave his baby son to Luther Guy Fergusson, his brother and Lela's sister,
Annie Sarah Bryan Fergusson
. Luther and Annie reared their nephew: J. C. Fergusson
as their own son.
