MERRIFIELD -- Leona M. Rau, age 85, of Merrifield, died on Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2003, at her home. She was born on April 28, 1918, in Foley, Minn., to Joseph and Kathryn "Rena" (Balder) Brambrink. Together with her husband, they ran the Torch Bar from 1952 until 1965 in Princeton. They went on to own and operate Sunset Bay Resort in Merrifield from 1969 to 1982. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Crosby.

She is survived by her husband, Edward; three sons and daughters-in-law, Roger Rau of Garrison, Randy and Vicki Rau of Brooklyn Center, Gary and Laurie Rau of Merrifield; one daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Peter Sjoquist of Princeton; daughter-in-law, Barbara Herring of Brooks, Georgia; three brothers; five sisters; 12 grandchildren; and 12-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by son, Dennis Joseph Rau; one sister, Dorothy Seaton; one brother, Earl Brambrink; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. on Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Crosby with Father Howard Eisel officiating. Burial will be at the Lakewood Cemetery in Crosby. Friends may call on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
