Jo Ann Alston Pledger, 69, of Ozark died Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2000, at St. Edward Mercy Medical Center in Fort Smith. She was a native of Fort Smith, daughter of the late Joel and Ruby Williamson Jeffers, widow of Jim Jack Alston and Thomas Pledger, a member of the Altus Methodist Church, and retired. She is survived by two daughters, Teresa Medford of Fort Smith and Linda Alston of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; one son, Jim Alston of Mt. Vernon, Texas; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral was at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 10, at the Altus Methodist Church with Rev. Jim McElhaney officiating. Burial was in the Rankin Cemetery under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Doug Pledger, Allan Hall, Terry Lewis, Robert Ross, Bryan Alston, Chris Alston, and Philip Alston. Honorary pallbearers were Kenneth Ross, Harold Jennings and Gus Shaffer.
