Calvin G. Braden, for almost seventy years a resident of Macon County died at 6 o'clock A Tuesday evening at his residence, 538 N Franklin Street. He would have been seventy three years old in March. His death was due to hardening of the arteries. He had been in failing health for the past two years.
Mr. Braden was born at Mifflin, Richland county, Ohio, March 7, 1847. With his parents he came to Illinois and settled on a farm northwest of Maroa when he was only three years old and has lived in this county ever since.
Mr. Braden and Miss Mary Brintlinger were married in Maroa, Feb 26, 1874. Ten children were born to them, five of whom have died. He is survived by his wife and the following children: Edward J. Braden and Miss Bessie Braden, Mrs. Harry Wyokff, Mrs. Wilbur Coon, and Mrs. Everett King, all of Decatur.
Mr. Braden was one of seventeen children. Two brothers, Solomon and Aquilla Braden, reside in De Witt county and there are three sisters and eleven living in Iowa. Mr. Braden was actively engaged in farming until seven years ago. Then he retired and moved to Cisco. After living there five years he moved to Decatur and the family has lived here for the past two years.
The body was removed to the Brintlings & Sons Undertaking Establishment and prepared for burial. The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at the residence.
