The following, from a recent issue of the Louisville (Kan.) Indicator, will be of local interest. Mr. Benton, the gentleman to whom the article refers, is a nephew of S. B. Barnard of this village and a son in-law of Stephen B. K. Fowler of Lima. The Indicator says: "W. R. Benton, the Republican nominee for representative of the Forty-ninth district in the State legislature, is one of the oldest settlers of the county, and has ever been one of the leading spirits in guiding her to an envied prominence in the industrial world. That the people of his district have the most implicit confidence in his ability and integrity, the fact that the nomination was tendered him by acclamation and unanimously is positive proof. He has served the people of this district as representative before, and made a record which does him proud. In sending him back the people will have the benefit of his past experience and old acquaintance to influence legislation in matters touching their interests. The district made a very wise selection, and Mr. Benton will be elected by an increased majority."
