Died of Chronic Veronal Poisoning.

Married 15 Sep 1867 Bristol, Grafton, New Hampshire to Cyrus Newell Cass.

To their union was born a son, Howard Harland Cass.

Emma was educated at Kingston Academy and at Music Vale Seminary in Salem, New London, Connecticut.

Cyrus and Emma resided in Illinois for some years; and later in Spangle, Spokan, Washington. Emma returned East in 1873, and entered the office of the Cottage Hearth in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts where she remained till 1875. While continuing to write for the magazine she resumed her vocation of music teaching, having classes in Franklin, Merrimack, New Hampshire; Bristol, Grafton, New Hampshire; New Hampton Institution; and Proctor Academy in Andover, Grafton, New Hampshire. In 1887, she accepted a position with the Redpath Lyceum Bureau in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts, and for a term of years had charge of the bureau's interest in New England, and had since been identified with lyceum work, making her home in Bristol, Grafton, New Hampshire.
