Silas appears to have died without leaving a will. In the probate records, Silas' brother, Samuel, was handling his estate and informed the court in 1772 that there were too many debts and not enough money. Samuel asked permission to sell real estate holdings of Silas to pay the indebtedness and give the widow a small sum of money. Documented in the "Public Records of the Colony of Connecticut", page 637.
He died of Small pox and was buried on the edge of a field. Due to his grave and one other person's, Interstate 84 in Connecticut had to be slightly re-routed. His grave lies just west of exit 10 in Newtown, CT just off the highway.
