Frida Grüschow (Grueschow/Gruschow) was born in Moltzow (Rambow parish), Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany and emigrated on the Hamburg sailing ship "Humboldt" with her husband Ferdinand, his brother Wilhelm Seyberlich, their 3 children and her brother, sisters & parents. It appears that Wilhelm Seyberlich died during the voyage. The families went to Chicago where Frida's twin brother, "Chris" Gruschow, had previously immigrated to, with his family in 1853.

They had 9 children; Carl/Charles, Bertha, Frida, Franz, Gus, Ernst, Charles, Fred and Arthur. They were members of First Saint Paul's German Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chicago. Two of their sons, Charles & Arthur became Chicago Fire Dept. Chiefs.
