---Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Meeks who passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ethel Mansfield, in Washburn, Illinois, Friday afternoon, were held from the D. S. Christie Funeral Home Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. A. W. Farmer, pastor of the Christian Church. Burial was made at the La Plata Cemetery. The music at the funeral was furnished by a male quartet, composed of W. R. Cull, J. Delbert Dull, H. I. Sears and Dr. Ralph Gillett with Mrs. Elmer Gunn at the piano.
---Emma Rebecca Klingman was born at Mifflinburg, Pennsylvania, December 14, 1855. She departed this life December 6, 1940 in Washburn, Illinois at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ethel Mansfield with whom she had gone to spend the winter. Had she lived until the 14th of this month she would have been 85 years old.
---She was united in marriage to Ben Zimmerman, to them were born two children, George and Nora B., both deceased. In 1882 she was married to James W. Meeks who preceded her in death 43 years ago. To this union five children were born, Walter James Meeks, deceased, Mary A. Schneider and John W. Meeks, both of La Plata, Ethel Mansfield, Washburn, Illinois, and Byron Meeks, Port Orchard, Washington.
---She also leaves eight grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren; one brother, C. R. Klingman of Cashion, Oklahoma, and one sister, Alice Pitkins, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Emma's daughter Nora Belle was born March 1, 1873. Emma married Benjamin Zimmerman on Feb 26, 1877. Emma's and Ben's son, George, was born in 1877. According to a granddaughter of Emma's, Emma did not talk about her life with Ben. They had divorced before 1881.
Emma and James were married on April 26, 1882 in Adair County MO. Emma had been employed by James to care for his two small children (Gertie and Eddie) and do the housekeeping after James' wife had died. Emma and James decided to marry and combine families for convenience. Together they had 5 children.
Stepchildren: Gertrude (Gertie) Meeks and Eddie (Edward) Meeks
Emma drew her husband's Civil War pension when he passed away.
