He moved his Bailey family (wife and six kids)from Lexington, TN to Clear Lake, AR (6 miles SE of Blytheville) in 1927. He first lived on State Road 148 and was a successful wheat farmer for several decades through the late 1940s. He retired in the nearby Promised Land community on State Rd 151 and was an upstanding citizen and neighbor in the area famous for massive cotton and soybean production. He was half Cherokee and Church of Jesus Christ and Latter Day Saints and voted Republican.
